Synopsis of the film GOLD the documentary

GOLD is a documentary exploring the lives of four dancers at the Gold Nugget strip club in Spread Eagle, Wisconsin. The film focuses heavily on Dusty's story, who was a dancer in the 90s. She has owned the club for 30 years, and runs it in a way that empowers women, guiding them to further education, encourages them toward sobriety, and offers respect and support through unconditional and sometimes tough love.

Each of these women have unique pasts that landed them in the industry, but each of their stories are relatable to women everywhere. Both inspiring and heartbreaking at times, GOLD offers a unique perspective into the world of women who work at this particular club in this rural part of the US. GOLD is an inspiring story of resilience, overcoming oppression, and finding your voice.

GOLD is a film empowering those in the sex industry and highlighting all the good that can come from independence, self-respect, confidence, and bodily autonomy.

About the Director:
Paige McKenna Grube is an award-winning documentary filmmaker from Meeme, Wisconsin. She attended film school in San Diego and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2013. From there she moved to Green Bay to work as a Production Coordinator and has worked at production companies in the Green Bay area over the years. Her experience has varied from working in corporate video as a video & photography Producer for Kohler Co in Sheboygan, to working for independent commercial advertising agencies. Her current role is Producer/Editor at a small production agency in Green Bay. Paige strives to use her independent filmmaking career as a way to give a voice to those who don't often have the opportunity to tell their stories. Her passion is to tell truthful, emotionally raw, and unique stories. Perhaps Paige's best professional attribute is that she focuses on doing the work upfront of relationship building and cultivating trust between her and her subjects. All of her films, so far, are passion projects with very small budgets. She receives funding through grants and donations through gofundme.

Previous Work:

Paige's film, Seeds of Life (2021), was shot on location in early 2020. This feature length, award-winning documentary, explores the incredible work Maria Marciano is doing for the people in the border area. Through her sharing of knowledge of agriculture, education, and the fundamental necessity of water, she has made generational impacts in her 25 years there. Her film Seeds of Life is available for free on Youtube.
